Travel Planner

This is an exciting period for people to travel an as there are now very few inaccessible places on this planet. Fortunately, there isn’t a corner of the earth that doesn’t have a travel site dedicated to it so it is easy obtaining information on the internet. Travel has become so easy that many people no longer even bother going to the travel agent and use websites exclusively to book their vacation. Gone are the days when travel agents were popular and sought after as websites have popped up everywhere and promise all of their customer’s extraordinary savings.

There is obviously a great deal of trust required to use the internet this way as often the companies you deal with have never been anything else but an internet based business. Being form the old school, it is nice to sit down and talk to a person who will actually listen to what I am saying. With a travel agent, I can change my mind about my plans several times, call and ask questions, and have someone to blame should my vacation not turn out to be what I was hoping for. I have never found it easy dealing with travel sites especially when I want to have a discussion with someone before I make a decision on something; plus on the very rare occasion you manage to get through to a support line, they are not as helpful as someone sitting in front of you.

If you do speak to someone, they may just tell you what you want to hear which is easy and what are the chances you will be able to find them? It is this fear of the problems that can occur and if they do happen it is too late that prevents me from being more trusting in the way that I trust my travel agent. I have a good friend who would never use a travel agent as she books all her last minute vacations using travel sites because she can save a packet of money. She is good at this and saves hundreds of dollars of the proper price and has always had a good vacation.

This would be a great way to travel and I do envy her but I am required to give two months notice before I can take a vacation. I don’t doubt for one minute that by using a travel site can be less expensive as you can also get discounts on tours and car hire by booking this way. There are many advantages to using a travel site to book your travel or even do your research and I do use websites when researching where I would like to travel to, and for getting my facts together. I take that information and then see a travel agent because at least I know that if my vacation turns out to be a nightmare, I have someone to come back and yell at.
